Need help picking a converter and stall speed
 

little info 461 eagle forged crank rods ross pistons hyd roller cam 236@50 242@50 .520 .540 lift 112 lobe separation. Edelbrock performer rpm heads 87 cc mild porting performer rpm intake Quickfuel 750 blow thur D1 prochager. Th400 with a moser 9 inch 3.70 gears.

I have a similar set up with no procharger and 3.23 gears. I have a 3000 stall, not sure what brand because it was in the car when I got it.

If you plan to race the car I would get some good advice on a custom convertor. If it's for the street you may get by with an off the shelf convertor.

ya I was thinking a custom unit as well.. just wasn't sure if I should go 3000 or 3500 and 9" 9.5" 10 converter . It going to be mostly a street car might hit the track once or twice a year..

Not sure if he can hook you up with a 400 trans or not but his converters do what he say's they will.

Not sure what kind of shift points you will be using but that motor is going to push through an average over the counter performance converter.

I had Dave set my up to couple at certain rpm and it does the job. Definitely get someone who will set it up to your combo or you're just wasting your money. Not cheap for a good converter but defiantly well worth it.

how heavy and has engine been on dyno ??

I would call PTC and tell them what you what you want. I have 2 of there converters in my turbo cars and they work great.

Hasn't been on the dyno and about 3200

I finally ordered a converter ! It's a 3000 stall from continental converters.
Specs 10 inch
Precision Pre-ground hardened steel pump hub
+ Anti-balloon plates on both sides of the converter.
+ Extreme duty 7 roller sprag
+ Solid Steel Ring around the stator 1/4" thick
+ Billet steel turbine spline
+ Torrington Bearings Through out the converter (3 sets)
+ Fully furnace brazed and reinforced turbine assembly
+ Fully furnace brazed and reinforced pump assembly
+ Fully welded heavy duty mounting ring ( CNC Flame cut, Stress relieved and Blanchard ground)

That converter should work well with that setup, I ran one like that for a while with good results(besides mileage) but I never drove it for that! A little high rpm for highway driving but my gears are 3.90.
