I bought these two trim pieces from another post here on the site. They had previously been on Ebay, so i had an idea of what they looked like. The first picture is pretty much what was shown on Ebay. They got here today and the second picture shows what I saw. I asked paypal for a refund and the seller is stating the piece was "professionally repaired" and "completely replatable". I only want my money back after I return them. Is that too much to ask?

looks like both pictures are taken of the inside of the part that doesn't get seen once installed. Whether you feel you 'deserve' a refund all depends on how the product was presented to you prior to your purchase. Post that information and then I think you'll get your answer.

Is that part even a Pontiac part? I don't recognize it.

If any mention had been made of the damage/repair, I would not have bought them.

imo I would have shown the back of the pieces and explained the repairs. I never like hiding anything because it just comes back to haunt you and makes you look sneaky. However, you said you bought them direct from him, not off of ebay. So I don't think it is fair to hold him to the ebay auction description unless he specifically instructed you to do so.

All of this being said, those parts have very minimal pitting for that part. The price of $29 is really cheap if his repair of the studs was done properly and will hold them. If it wasn't pot metal welded properly, the parts are of not much use to you.

That was exactly my thought. When I spoke to him, I told him that I had seen them while they were on Ebay and he said that I know their condition. I guess I'm too trusting to think about asking to see the back side. At least I did it through Paypal on a credit card so I have a shot at getting my money back.

In my experience on used parts, bad deals are almost always a communication breakdown. It's extremely rare that the supplier purposely tries to deceive the buyer. I would reach out to the supplier and ask again that he consider the situation and take them back.
