1968 Interior
Getting ready to order the new seat kits. Only one problem though, which company do I use PUI or Legendary? I've been told the PUI kits are a little easier to put on however everyone I know uses Legendary. Any preferences? The car is for driving/show. Any input would help. Thanks.

You're going to get about a 10 to 1 preference for Legendary...and for good reason unless PUI has improved a great deal. The PUI covers are rather flat looking and lacking in surface detail. I've got a set here and comparing them to the originals...well, it's obvious right away that they are not original.

Ditto. Ever since I the Legendary covers came out I've wanted to replace the PUI ones on my car.
|
I think PUI also has a gold line, so I don't know if most of what people are comparing to are the base line or what. But I have legendary seat covers and door panels and they are very nice.

FWIW, I'm ok with the door panels. They are probably 20 years old at this point and still look good. The seat covers I have are 10 years old. They installed fine and have held up great, it's compared to the originals (and Legendary's) there's a clear difference in appearance and quality.

Why not just improve the product and stop making the crappy stuff, PUI? I've been there with their seat covers and door panels. Never again. Still see shoddiness on client's restorations from last summer.

I have the PUI interior since 2004: a 69 pattern on a 70 color for a 68 fit (seats & doors). total cost was $787 in 2004.
- had to assemble the door carpets & upper rails. -------- so the Quarter tips have needed re-adhesived (my bad huh) -------- so a brite vinyl on the door panel peeled off 1" ( so I had to adhere it back;fine) Not bad. Material "brite ness" or natural gloss could use some shine. Certainly better then the tired original parchment, but will never be better than fine condition original interiors (of any color?); suspect the repop Reds & Blues are always best when new. May make a change some day to fine-tune the looks: it would be original or Legendary (if affordable). |
One thing I can say is that the Legendary material is very heavy (more durable?) The convertible boot cover that I ordered from Legendary along with the rest of my interior is so heavy that it wants to wrinkle. The cheaper boot cover that I ordered 10+ years ago is much lighter, stretches out nice and flat and actually looks better. So my Legendary boot is in the bag, waiting for the day when the cheap one finally tears or tatters. No complaints about the rest of the interior. Its several years old now and holding up perfectly.
For what its worth... |
have used both . Legendary is by far better quality. As far as boot cover I would get it out on a nice sunny hot day and play with the fit.

Awesome thanks for all of the info..Decided to go with the Legendary interior. Boxes have started showing up and getting excited to install.
