is there a break down of production numbers for different engines in 1974 formula's? looking at a 455 formula, just wondering how many built.

First of all did you move ? I thought you lived in Tipp City, Ohio !

As for your question I think there was a little over 300 455 Formula's built in 74. Not including the SD 455 cars. They stopped production mid year due to lack of sale's. Thats what i was told. Maybe some one else has a better answer.

Hi, yes house is still in Tipp City, just haven't been there much lately. I just returned from Afghanistan where I tore up my knee and had to have the joint replaced. they just did the surgery 24 feb and I have started my rehab, but they are going to keep me here awhile.
looking at a 455 formula this weekend, no motor or trans, but that does not bother me, as I have Jay's old FAST 74 455 sitting in my garage looking for a home. have talked to the guy and worked out a deal, just going to eye ball it in person and pick up. I will up update after everything goes thru. it will go back together as a kick a$$ driver, that I don't have to worry about some rubber on the quarter panels.

I believe that I have seen '74 Formula 455 numbers here in the past...

I do not blieve that there is any further breakdown that has ever been posted for the Formula 350's & 400's for 1974.

I personally would be curious to know the full engine & transmission breakdown for all 1974-1977 Formulas (77 being the last year the P350 was offered; the P350 could be had in both 2bbl & 4bbl forms for 75-76; I believe it was only 4bbl for 77, as the short deck engine(s) supplanted the 350-2bbl as the 'base' Pontiac V8 there after).

I thought I saw expanded production #s on the Super Duty registry. Probe around there.
I only know that there were 58 SD455 Formulas built in 74....

okay, went and looked at the car yesterday. i'll do the good and the bad.
good: body not great but not bad, fenders, quarters, were okay for an Ohio car, need a little work, but do able. was a 455 auto car.

bad: hood not bad but 2 vent pieces broken, someone welded in motor mounts from something else, my guess small block chevy (motor was gone when he bought it), trunk has small amount of rust but a dozen or more holes drilled in it, (not sure what they were for some small a few 1/2inch or bigger), 75 front grills and valance, header is broken but fixable, booster is in the trunk ( I think someone ran a small block big cam and was worried so went with standard brakes). floors have some small holes that need fixed but workable I think.

really bad: where the front of the rear leaf spring bolts to the body is junk (torque box?). driver side has at least a 1 1/2 x 4 inch hole at the mount point, the passenger side has a t least a 3 x 4 or 5 inch hole right at the mount. if you drove it, I would say, first bump you hit would send the passenger side thru the floor, might take a few more for the driver side to break, but not many.

he quoted 2,500 for the car, not sure if I offered less if he would take it or not, but with all the rust at the spring mounts I think I will walk.

There were 702 455/auto and 58 SD455 Formulas made in '74.

although I had previously read that the L75 (reg 455/4bbl) was automatic only for 1971-1974, wasn't it recently revealed that for '73 & '74, you could in fact get a four speed stick with it?

I believe that '73/4spd numbers were recently shared here;
Is there something to suggest that absolutely none of the 1974 W66 L75 cars were stick?

The 'ram air' boots and hood screens I have were taken off of a '74 W66 L75/M40 car that spent much of it's life in Saskatchewan, and was rusted well beyond repair;
It was a nice car that I probably have pictures of somewhere;
It was a white car with deluxe red interior.

I just looked in my MPC, and realized that there was no carburetor listed for the '74/455/4spd, so that ends that :(
