The BADDEST OF THE BAD

Hennessey does it again.

Great Video. Not exactly like a Texas Mile standing start deal but very fast for a car of its type. This is naturally a Boosted Vehicle.

Very impressive.

However I'm even more impressed by the twin-turbo 1988 Corvette Sledgehammer by Callaway/Lingenfelter that did 254 mph, 26 years ago:

Deal is there was no cut off distance on the Callaway deal. They just kept going around and around the track until they "hit the wall" aerodynamically at Talledega.

I was personally more impressed, Bart, with the fact that Callaway drove the car to Talledega, made the run, and drove it back home.

Agreed, the fact that the Sledgehammer was driven to and from the track is impressive.

Also the fact that a Corvette that is easily obtainable by the average Joe was able to run those kind of speeds (after a lot of 'tuner' work) is simply incredible.

Shows what a great yet affordable platform the Corvette is, nothing else compares for the money then or now.

Holy crap. WOW.

So I look at the run as impressive to watch but many salt flat racers have gone as fast or faster on SALT (6" deep salt) but also with the comment that a salt racer gets 2 miles to get up to speed and then another 5 miles of trapped speed each mile.

This is the baddest of the bad of the Piston Driven Engine top speed deals. 462 mph.

That is 1 mile every SEVEN SECONDS!
