67 ram air hoods
 

I've been wanting one for my Firebird since I got it but haven't been able to find one. Goodmark and others have one that fits but you have to change out the latch. Yesterday I found out that they are making one that fits the 67 without changing the latch or anything else. So I have one on order and should have it next week sometime.
I called goodmark to get info and order it only to find out that Summit racing is a distributor. I called them and found out they have a better price and cheaper shipping cost even though it ships right from goodmark. Oh well I'm getting my hood so I'm happy. Next is to decide if I want it to be functional or not. I'm thinking yes. Has any one made one functional?

WOW it's been a year already. LOL
The hood did come in shortly after I made is post last year but I never got around to installing it. Yesterday I found that The Parts Place has an ebay store and that they sell the complete ram air kit for $449 which is a big savings over anyone else even their website so I just bought it. Maybe by this time next year I'll actually get the hood painted and installed.

My scoop inserts are open, but I have no ductage connected. I didn't order them that way, but they showed up as open scoops, and I thought "Why not?".

I have at times wondered if the open hood scoops cause disruption of underhood airflow, and might cause some cooling issues. But it's nothing I have been able to confirm.

The two issues I have with my open hood scoops are:
1. Bugs and crap get plastered all over the intake parts
2. Harder than &#&#^ to wash the car and keep the water out.

But the 'cool' factor is way up there.

Yeah the water getting in is a bit of a concern but if I can help it she never goes out in the rain. Washing however will be another problem.

LOL! I have a couple of old drying chamois that I stick in the open hood scoops when washing. It keeps the water out. As for any issues with open hood scoops... not really except bad weather. About the only benefit I have seen (without the RA system that seals the pans to carb and hood) is the ability to "vent" hot air out from underneath the hood. Not much if any affect on directing cool air in without the rest of the system.

Anybody have a link or part number to this 67 400 hood that is a direct bolt on and does not require changing out the latch?

yeah they told me to order it through summit but they would be happy to sell it to me as well. LOL go figure.

I have a 68 Hood latch assemble for sell if you want to swap and save a little cash.
