Smokin' 400!
 

Dark grey/blackish smoke. Am I running rich or what do you reckon? Carb was only just rebuilt.:confused: See video link below.

Looks more blueish to me, did it smoke before the carb overhaul?

Not that I recall. I've just replaced the PCV valve, there was no rattle in the old one, until I hit it. Leaves sooty crap on the drive too.

It idles and runs as smooth as you like, never diesels, misses, nothing. It uses none, or very little, oil or coolant, all pressures and temps behave normally.

It completed an 1100km round trip in one day a couple weeks ago like a champ.

Your car looks and sounds great so I think the carb is OK. Have you changed oil to another brand lately? I used castrol in an old corvette I had. My brother in law wanted me to try valvoline. I put that in it and it smoked and pinged until I drained it out 50 miles later and put the castrol back in it.

Looks like it's running a bit rich to me and is not oil related. If it blows out black smoke after sitting for a while then clears out that's an indicator that the primary and or secondary bowl plugs are leaking, common problem especially after the carb's been hot tanked. It's an easy fix. If it runs rich all the time then I would check the float level first, next the ensure the primary jets are seated properly. More than likely something was not done correctly on the rebuild.

You said you changed the PCV because it didn't rattle. It could have benn stuck closed. Did you get the correct PCV valve for your engine. If you get the wrong one it can suck oil up into the carb/intake. If you have a different cam & you still run the factory PCV you again could have the wrong one in there because it may not be pulling the same amount of vacum. Check your new PCV now to see if you have any oil in the line or the PCV itself. If you have a different cam you may be pulling a less amount of vacum letting the oil in. You may have to do some research to see what PCV valve you may have to use for the cam you have now. If it's more blace check the float level first if the carb has just been rebuilt.

Its that pesky MOPAR sign sliding off the wall late at night tinkering with your carb settings out of jealousy. :-) Don't have much to add other than looks dark - rich more than light blue and thanks for posting so I can get a quick fix while working on my new engine.

Looks like it's just burning some oil....no big deal...

How much oil is it going thru?

1qt every 1k miles?

Either valve seals or rings....what the miles on the engine?

Check your plugs for some that are darker than the rest.

Also, if you suspect the PCV disconnect it & plug the vacuum off then take it for a ride then see if it smokes after that.
