Help?1969 Judge stock tire size?

I want to install the stock tire size on my 1969 Judge in the bias ply redine tires like they came from Factory.I know they are 14 inch but what was the size as far as G70-E70 or whatever? Can anyone tell me what brand were the redline tires in 69 also and where is the best place to get them. Thanks for any info.

G70

Thanks for the reply. Were the regular 69 GTOs the same as the judge as far as tire size because on a web page it said G78 was stock size for 69 GTO?Youve got a lot of nice cars.I used to go to GS nationals with an 87 Grand National I had and always liked the GS and GSXs.Rare cars especially with stage 1 motor. My son has my GN now.

69 Judge - standard issue tire was G70x14 BLACKwall
G70 Redlines or Whitewalls were an extra charge option and will list on the invoice.
About $30-40 on a Judge - more on a GTO
Don't see too many Judges with tire options on their invoice, but have some examples.

Have a 69 Framingham plant Judge build sheet that declares Goodyear tires.
Not sure if that was a variance from plant to plant or month to month.
Just putting it out there.
No other plant listed tire brand - that i have on file.

Have a 69 GTO order form that lists G78x14 - Redline Standard
G78 Whitewall - No Charge.

Then there are FIBERGLASS G78 under those in Redline or Whitewall - that would appear to be extra cost options.

Then G70 FIBERGLASS under those in Redline or Whitewall - that would definitely be an extra cost option.

G70 BLACKwall is not listed on this order form.

It is dated 10/26/68

Thanks for the info.Very helpful.Looks like the Judge came with G70s and a regular GTO had G78 standard and G70 optional.

Those G70-14 blackwalls are getting closer!!!

Prior to Goodyears Polyglas, the tire manufactures used nylon for belting. Nylon carries a memory, think flat spotting. The Polyglas was polyester and fiberglass belting..less of a memory issue.

If you guys have questions, I am happy to help. My cell is 816-654-3400.

Yea,I grew up in the 60s and had those nylon tires so I know all about those flat spots but after a few miles they were okay.Thanks.Does anyone remake goodyear redlines.Ive only seen the firestones and uniroyals

Yes, Kelsey is the exclusive distributor of all Goodyear reproduction tires. I can help you with any tire that Kelsey has. My cell is 816-654-3400.
Kelsey's website is www.kelseytire.com

Thanks for the info.Wont be buying tires for a while yet but like the goodyears better than the firestones and I beleive I can get them here at a dealer so I wont have to pay shipping.

cballweg 04-27-2014 12:53 PM

Might even be able to get a discount on the goodyears since my father and mother both retired from goodyear and get discount coupons every year but not sure if they will be good for these tires.

SmallHurst 04-27-2014 11:05 PM

Just give me a call when you are ready to buy. The tires are not made by Goodyear, but Goodyear is involved in the technical side.

All have to buy through Kelsey, so the cost of shipping is there. All I am saying is contact me before you buy!

cballweg 04-29-2014 05:11 PM

Will do.Can you get me a discount?I seen on their website where they were $250 each plus shipping. Thanks

Pontiac stated in their advertising that all Judges came with Polyglas blackwalls,
which would indicate that all Judges came with Goodyears installed from the factory. I
know that personally I never saw any of them have anything but Goodyears on them when
the cars were new. Has anyone ever heard of one being built with Firestones?

cballweg 04-30-2014 03:59 PM

Small Hurst. These are the old style tread like back in 69 or is this the radial tread because I know they make both? Also can you post a photo of the sidewall showing redline and a photo of the tread? And the quote is for G-70x14?Thanks

SmallHurst 04-30-2014 05:52 PM

Hi there.

Kelsey only builds true representations of the original tires. All Goodyear Polyglas are bias ply polyester and Fiberglas tires.

Here is a link to the photo of the tires:http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/larg...lyglas-RS.html
