2002 TA rear gears noise
I have a low miles (11k) 2002 RA TA that I had 323 gears and I went to 373 gears. I had a race shop replace the rear gears 2 times. one set of motive and one set of Richmond. Both make a wining noise at high speed. low speeds are fine. So I really want this rear noise gone, to replace them, is it better to go with a used set or should I try another brand new after market set. I'm worried the after market set will make noise just because they are after market like the other 2. The shop owner says he believes it's because of the torq bar from the rear that amplifies the rear noise. Someone out there had to change there gears and not have a noise.
thanks for you input. you can email me [email protected] or text 484-433-4547 is good also. |
weird you used motive and got that unless you did not run them through a break in or if it has synthetic. If you have syn. get that out of there and put regular oil back in with the additive and try that. I put in synthetic in mine and got crazy noises until I ran brake cleaner all over the posi and gears then went back to standard oil and additive.....some of this stuff does not like synthetic just like transmissions with performance clutches and or converters.

I'm pretty sure the shop put regular gear lube in it but I will check. Would it give a high speed wining noise with synthetic in it? or are you talking about clunks and noises from the posi with synthetic oil ?
thanks ! |
Weird noises and clucks with synthetic can happen with the posi. I know Richmond gear tend to whine. Sometimes it is the break in cycle that is done wrong with certain lash settings and brands the. Ur stuck with a whine. I have been there myself
