1971 Norwood resurrection

What got me initially about the 3991763 part number is it did not agree with the assembly manual which says the Bracket Assembly is 3996355. But, up in the upper right hand corner is those pesky hand written notes and there it has the 3991763 part number. Looks like they changed to the new part number on 9/10/70 if I'm reading that correctly. Do you know the date code on the block? I think we had a thread on the radiator tanks code somewhere here on PY. (I think HFR had some good info on them) I'll see if I can find it if someone doesn't post first. Very cool thread. :) |
IF is the correct lh tank code for a 4 core. IA was the 3 core lh tank used. CV is the code for a rh man trans tank, either 3 core or 4 core. Your rh tank has the letter E embossed & that signifies the tank was made in May, usually the radiator is assembled same month or slightly afterwards. The shroud i would have to ck my originals. Bill posted a chart for 70 model shrouds last week.
I'm in need of a CV coded rh tank for one of my longtime projects if anyone reads this & has an extra. Cash buyer or possible trade for what you need. |

Last month I started tinkering on a 72 that I bought back in 89........hadn't started it in years.......a bit of TLC and it lit right up....just like I shut it off a month ago...... Did you wanna have a RACE to see who gets done FIRST? :D |

I don't have the time or patience for building perfectly restored cars..(OR thinking that I do.......and am tired of ones that don't run or drive....:old: Interesting sidenote.......Both of them were built in late Sept/71 and the VIN's are 12 #'s apart......likely were in sight of each other on the assembly line......now they sit on my assembly line....side by each....waiting to get put back together again....42 years later... Sorry to "jack" your thread....but you DID ask......:focus: NOW....can we talk about my truck? :D |
