Interesting if kinda rough Looking car, seller asking $4500

I think I sold my '62 215 convertible for about $3500.

The engine number should start 162P if it's original. Not like a regular Buick engine, and hand-stamped at the Pontiac plant.

Car was on the Denver CL for 2500. I try to contact the owner but ad was pulled before he replied. Car was pretty rough by the picture on that listing, 2500.00 was a good price, maybe 3000.00 tops. too far gone for 4500!

In Michigan that is a $4500 car. We can't find low rust examples unless they are imported from somewhere else.

There are so many Tempest-215-only parts on that car it'd take you more than a grand's worth of time to find them all, let alone acquire them. Besides, he might come down a grand on the price.

I agree, if I had the room for anouther project I would have to look at this one. It would cost $1000 to ship from Western CO to SE MI. And if the sheet metal is mostly solid I do not consider it a bad price.
I still remember looking at two 62's side by side in a yard in NC many years ago, 1 a four banger and the other a 215 V-8. I could not believe that even the steering was totaly different, one was front steer, the other rear steer.
If anyone is interested I can go look at it, it is about an hour away from me.

Camerjeff, do you mean, the direction the Pitman arm comes off the steering box? This is one difference I'm not aware of, but I'd sure like to know, because I just dropped a 215 into a 4-speed '62 that originally had a 4 cyl.

It has been 15 years or more, but I remember the entire steering system being different. But memories can easily be wrong, and mine more so.
