My first attempt at a resto, 69 custom S
This will be a slow going resto its kind of a work on it when I have the time and money project. Which it seems to be never lol. Lets start this off. Here we have my 1969 Pontiac custom S. I picked it up for 1300 bucks.

Ive has the car a few years now but just decided to start keeping track of the progress online. It was originally a inline 6 with a 2 speed auto. The PO had disassembled most if it when I got it. He was planning on a complete resto as well but I think it was to much for him. I started to reassemble the motor just in the hopes of taking it for a spin before it got under way. but no such luck. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...3101810-00.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...3101808-00.jpg Turns out the reason he started the resto is because the distributor took a crap on him. Did not find this out till I got it back together and could not get any spark. No worries as I planned on a 400 swap in the future any ways. So the old motor had to come out. In the process of pulling the motor I made an interesting discovery. I pulled the front end off. took everything off the motor. hooked up the cherry picker to lift the motor to take out the last bolts and that's when things got weird. Id lift the motor a bit check to see if the bolts were loose. lift some more but something did not look right as I was doing this. Kinda stood back and looked as I lifted that when I realized. the engine/frame was lifting up but not the body. Guess its time for a full frame off resto! While saving up some funds for the big rebuild I took car of some of the little stuff. Since I plan on putting in a 4 speed and floor shift steering columns are so expensive. I had a perfectly good working column shift tilt column I figure is see if I could make into one. (wife helped with the dissemble.)

Starting the rebuild process. Got a sand blaster for Christmas. Blasted and cleaned up the front disk brake conversion kit I got with the donor frame. Rebuilt the calipers and panted it all up.

Very sad to hear this :( You have a very unique OHC 6 model there. Out of all the OHC 6 A-Bodies the '68s &'69s are seldom seen on the road. If you do go that route please consider saving/offering the OHC stuff on the OHC 6 pages. Cheers |

Wow, that original frame is one of the worst I have seen for a car of this vintage. Did they park it under water or something? I usually see that kind of frame rot on stuff from the early 50's-earlier.

Update, everything is finally sandblasted and painted. Now I can start putting it back together. I'm so happy to have the front wheels back on the ground. should have the rear installed by Sunday!!!!!

thanks for the complements guys. I'm really happy with how this has turned out so far and its turning into a family project. My oldest helped install the rear end this morning. She has also helped with the initial disassembly.
