rear shocks what are you using
 

Hey guys I just replaced the rear springs in my 67 because on hard bumps I would bottom out and noticed that my U joint has hit my floor a few time. I need new axle bumpers no doubt and the shocks seemed to be ok but like the old springs they are 12 years old. I put Eaton heavy duty multi leaf springs in The shocks I have now are KYBs and I want to put something better in their place. So what are you using?

DSE/JR's, Koni's, also as mentioned above Bilstiens. The KYB "Gas adjust" are the better KYB's as far as I know, what model KYB's are you currently running ?

Thanks guys. Not sure what what model they are but they are not adjustable.

The KYB "gas adjust's" are non adjustable, the same says otherwise but they are not. They are Nitrogen filled and pretty firm, white in color w/ red labels. I purchased mine through AMES for my 67 GTO. Very pleased with them.

I'll second Tim John, KYB Gas adjusts, very good shock.

They are on my 69 as well. I've used them on A-bodies too and like them.

They're gas-a-just. Being 12 years old they are probably just worn out.

It looks like your using a multi leaf spring with 4 leafs and the original shock plate with the park brake cable retainer. I have a similar setup on mine and think it rides like a tank. Let us know what shocks you end up using. Specifically, the length as I did not find any listed for spring conversions.
I would be interested in your ride characteristics also.
The wife thinks this is the worst riding car we have ever had. The front seems fine, but the rear wants to bounce over every rough spot in the road. But, then I think back to a friend's 67 Camaro and it road pretty much the same, so it may be a permanent condition.

Rob, you are correct. I converted it to multi leafs when I first got it and since switched out the rearend to a moser 12 bolt with the correct spring pockets. The ride is a little stout but it handles great. One thing I did see the other day was this video by eaton comparing hydraulic shocks to gas. http://youtu.be/o70v71Rxsyg. I am thinking that adjustable hydraulics are the way I'm going this time.

Wow how time flies. I can't believe it's been 2 years since I posted this question. I decided to go with QA1 adjustable to match the coil overs I have up front. Today I finally got around to replacing my shocks and what a difference they make. The car no longer rides like a truck and it still seems to handle great. To the best of my knowledge I'm running the stock height (I haven't measured it) and these shocks have about 3 inches of travel. So far after a few hard bumps it looks like I'm using about 2 inches of the travel.

I loved my (now dis-continued) Edelbrocks, but I damaged them. Replaced with Bilstein , and found them stiff as hell. I'm going to Koni adjustable next.

I have QA1's and love them. I think the KYB's are ok on an A-Body car but are to stiff for a lighter F-Boday car. I had a set and they were rock hard.

I bought Koni Classic adjustables for the front and back last year. Still need to install them. Just a quick note on this. If you choose Koni's, shop the hell out of them for price. I bought one set on ebay. Pretty much everyone had a similar price, but there was a 4 x 4 dealer that was selling them for about half of what everyone else was charging. The other set I bought from Summit when then had a really good sale.
