Need help with trans cooler lines
Long winded, sorry......I've swapped a 200-4r into a 67 GP that originally had a TH400. The install went about as expected; we had the trans in and out about half a dozen times, and ended up braking the trans oil pump. In an effort to get the car running, I made some temporary cooler lines. Now I want to go back and install permanent lines.
The original lines from the TH400 were cut up, and the only thing I could salvage were about 1' of line and the fittings to the radiator. This line is 3/8, and based on the fitting on the trans, the fittings have a 1/2-20 thread. Most of what I can find says that most applications came with 5/16 line, but that 65-68 big cars came with 3/8 cooler lines. I can get steel brake lines from the parts store, but in order to get the 1/2-20 fitting, the lines have to be 5/16. Does anyone know where I can get 3/8 line with 1/2-20 fittings? If not, will 5/16 line move enough fluid to keep the 200-4r cool? Thanks in advance! |
you should be able to get the correct nuts from a parts store or Fastenal. you might also try a transmission shop for fittings. I would use the 3/8 line just for capacity. my 2cents
