Manual antenna 1966
Hi,
I am about to install a manual antenna on the right front fender on my LeMans 1966. I have an original style antenna with the correct base, designed to be attatched to the fender flange with a small screw. I understand that I have to remove the fender, but I cant find any information of the correct location of the holes. Can anyone help me with this? If it is hard to get exact location or a template, I would apprechiate a few close up photos from a correct installation. Best regards, Peter Tillman |
You don't need to remove the fender if you have the right adapter. Open the door and you should see a fairly small drilled and taped hole, that's what you're wanting.

OK, thanks
The problem is that I have to drill a hole in the upper skin of the fender for the base and it has to be in the correct location, otherwise the antenna would be in wrong angle /Peter Tillman |
Don't have any loose fenders at the shop, but these may help.
The Antenna body will dictate the location based on the mounting tab location. Once you get a center hole I would then use a step bit to slowly enlarge the hole. Gasket & escutcheon allow for some hole "adjustment" |
Thanks Jeff!
This will make it a lot easier. Regards Peter Tillman |
I used one of these to make the hole and it cuts a very clean and neat hole:
