1970 455 GTO 12 bolt rear axles
 

Thinking of upgrading the axles in my 70 455ho car. My passenger rear axle bearing is bad and from what ive read usually the axle will have some damage to it due to the worn bearing. My question is after doing some research are these axles the same as the 70-72 chevelle axles/ most suppliers dont list for a 70-72 Gto unless im missing something. Should be a 30 spline 8.875 ring gear about 31-3/8 long if im correct, any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The original axles for a '68-72 McKinnon built 12 bolt used in a B-O-P A-body application (like your '70 455 GTO) carried a different part number than the ones used in a common same year Chevy 12 bolt rear. The difference wasn't a dimension thing, so when ordering new heavier duty new axles, one can order for same year "Chevelle". Have a pair of Mosers in both of my '71 Pontiacs McKinnon built 12 bolts.

Awesome thanks OPH, was looking at Sumitts site and saw the Moser axles, read the only difference between the 2 is the yoke if i read correctly. Figured nows the time to upgrade if its coming apart. Due you happen to remember the part #s of the ones your using?, thnx.
