Windshield Wiper date
 

I am trying to figure out what is written above the date. 5-64. It looks like 2Q2 or 2G2 or 2G1. Has anyone noticed what code is above the date on theirs?

My 65 has a 498 at the top with 11-64 on the bottom.

Great Bill. I need to invest in a better camera. Another difference under the magnifying glass, is the slight difference in font. It only means that different stamps existed. The shear volume of these wiper/washer assemblies given that all GM "A" bodies used the same one would be massive. And probably multiple plants used a different stamp. The 201 is a bit of a mystery. I had hoped the #201 was the last of a part number but it doesn`t show up in the MPC. However assembly #`s are sometimes different. 201 may be the plant #. 201 day of the year?
I will try and have a stamp made without the circle and similar font.

As far as the 201,I looked for a while and came up with zero. About like the stamp on a NOS 6550 pump. 601 means squat to me.

The circle diameter is exactly 5/8". The letters are 5/32" high.

I don't think you'll find anyone who knows what those date-stamp numbers mean. Mine has a 29, Bill's a 201, 6t5gto is 498. Probably is the employee's clock number--or part of it.

Mine is an illegible smudge. Car was built 9/18/64 in Pontiac Michigan.

I suspect it is supposed to be a "lot number".

Hi WE, I concur with Dick. All I can add is the circle width; a narrow 1/32 to 1/64. Pretty dogone thin.
My fuel pump has 900 and 1SM right below that on the web facing the upper control arm between the pump rocker pin and attaching bolt to the block.

Thanks to all. Bill I have couple of NOS 6550 pumps and the blue imprint on both are only smudges. Yours is the best I have seen so differences on other pumps may or may not be out there. The dates on the boxes are Feb 64 and May 64 but to actually tie that to the manufacture date would not help. Actual date can be determined only with the pump disassembled. A clock date or dots are on the individual parts. I would bet the blue stamp is either a batch or test number. I can`t say for certain why so many I have viewed are not crisp imprints but it tends to point to a tested component and the tester has a very wore out stamp or just in a hurry. Either way it indicated OK Tested.
