65 courtesy lights

I keep seeing wiring harnesses for under dash courtesy lights for the 65 GTO but I can't find the actual brackets and lights. Were there actual under dash courtesy lights for the 65 and if so does anyone know where you can get them?

Thanks,
Dale

Yes 65 had them. You should only need one for over the console. 2 if you have an aftermarket radio hanging under the dash... or an 8 track tape player you put in for the cool effect. ;)

You'll probably have to get the bracket from someone here on PY, as I've not seen any reproductions, or anything that matches the originals. PY 192 is the lens part number.

Hopefully for you find 1 or 2 originals they'll have the original wiring with them. If not go here for the harness... either 1 light or 2. Personally I like 2 lights. One for each side of the console out near the doors.

Was the lamp an option or standard?

Thanks for the info. When I get to putting the interior back in I will see if I can find some. I like the idea of the floor getting lit up when you get in. But then again, how often are these driven in the dark:)

I'm not sure if 65s had them from the factory, but I have seen 65s with them. Maybe an option. I should have been clearer in my previous reply. :o

I drive my GTO when it's dark all the time in the spring and fall when coming home from certain car shows. ;)

Dale, place a wanted post in the Parts Wanted forum for 61-77 GTO, Tempest & LeMans. I'm sure someone will have them. You could send a PM to stainlessman in Greenfield, Indiana.. His name is Dennis and he comes up with Pontiac parts. Good guy to deal with.

I was thinking of placing an add in the wanted section if no one knew of any place that had them new. Once I get to that point of putting the car back together I will search for one.
Thanks,
Dale
