I'm sure you've seen some strange things in salvage yards. At a local yard we have the Penny 'Vair. The entire Corvair has pennies glued to it.

That gives it some scrap value.....
And they are all heads-up!

Is that a 67/8 Mustang convertible next to it?

LOL, yeah maybe 150 years after we're all dead and buried, 2 or 3 might be worth 1-1/2 cents each....:D

They list both a 67 and 68 in their inventory. http://www.apcity.com/
I can check it out next time I go, but it probably won't be 'til springtime. It's probably rusty and well picked over.

They were all from 80's or 90's, I believe, and very corroded.

There is more than a pennys worth of copper in a penny....

it looks like somebody needed some spare change and got a few of the pennies off.

That'd be true if they were pre-1983 pennies.
I spotted 2-3 copper pennies in the thumbnail pic. the rest had zinc frosting on them.

fiedlerh 11-18-2014 10:16 PM

Most of them were dated 1994.

68lemansman 11-18-2014 10:20 PM

So how much money do you think is on that car? any guesses?

Lightfoot 11-18-2014 10:39 PM

There used to be a late eighties Honda Accord in Michigan City Indiana that had bottle caps glued all over it in the same fashion as that Corvair.
I never got a picture of it.

Quite a few years back, I was in SC scrounging for parts. I was given directions to some guys who had a "private" junk yard that hauled off old cars. I went to their place, and found a farm with a lot of cars in the field behind their shop.

I never documented it, but one of the cars appeared to be a 69 Judge convertible. It had an Oldsmobile motor in it, but the oddest thing was the paint. It appears to originally have been light green, but they had made it camouflage by adding on dark green and black paint.

I suspect it was a Judge, as it had a Judge emblem on the glove box and the ram air knob was under the dash.

I tried to buy it, but they wanted too much. The car was beat up badly. I often wonder what happened to that car.
