It looks like a solenoid for something, just not sure what.

I'm going with power trunk release because of the cable on the solenoid. No expert though.

only thing I can think it would be used for.

I obtained a build manual for my old 67 Bel Air. Was truly amazed at the potential options for that car

I'm going with, It's not for a 69 firebird.

With that small cable, it could be a seat back release
