68 GTO LED TAIL LIGHTS
 

Has anyone purchased, installed or seen the new led tail light conversion kits for a 68 GTO ?

I just bought some from Amazon using the replacement numbers. About doubled my backup light output. Have not bought the 1157 dual element yet. Dome light is great. Real bright without melting the lens like the original.

replacement bulbs do not have proper light dispersion properties and do not work well with the housings to create even light. What one gets is a bright point in the light when only replacing the bulbs. There is a reason that the original lights has silver colored housings behind them...to reflect light and create even tone.

I have had my idea for a proper LED tail light solution on the shelf for a couple of years (had two kids and other family stuff). I may strike out and get that going again - prototypes work, but are not right yet. Others who create/sell LED "panels" that are glued to the interior housings are still chasing down the wrong track.

OK, I will need to make something happen. :)

Yes, these are the second type I listed - still not done correctly AND you must essentially ruin your housings to make this work. I have a better solution design that I need to finish

Yes it was the ones listed on ebay that I was referring to, I know the LED replacement bulbs don't look right and I know $220 is pricey but if they work good and look good they may be worth it. Just curious if anyone has seen them.

I bought a set of the sequential tail lights. I verified operation and then the car sat for another six months. I had one tail light that didn't work. It had a few bulbs that did not work. I emailed Larry at ClassicLEDs for support. He had redesigned the lights by then and sent me a new set. When I replaced old with new I realized that I might have puled a wire from the connector installing my audio in the trunk.
I am really happy with the product and more so the customer support. I had a very high pitch whine in my sound system when I turned on the lights. I installed a filter on the power to the lights that cured the noise.

I CALLED LARRY AT CLASSIC LEDS AND PURCHASED A NON SEQUENTIAL LED KIT DIRECTLY FROM HIM FOR $179 SHIPPED,HE IS THE ONE SUPPLYING EVERYONE WITH THESE KITS,GREAT GUY VERY HELPFULL.

Post up when you get them installed! Would love to see some day and night shots.
