1965 Wiper Blade Finish
1 Attachment(s)
Does anybody know what the original finish was on 1965 GTO wiper blades? Some are a satin finish, while others are polished. Which is "correct"?

Do you mean the wiper arms or just the blades?
I have wiper arms that look like they're stainless steel with a satiny finish, but use the chrome repos on my GTO instead. The Anco blades I have have the metal strip, with the reversed lock, the rubber is attached too. I can post a photo tomorrow. |

Dull or satin finish blades were a federal mandate for 1966 production vehicles. The 65 should have a polished stainless blade holder made by Trico. The blade holder would have been flat on top vs. the 66 and up "peaked" style holder. Some early 66 GM vehicles had a flat blade holder with a beaded or blasted finish on top, rather than the later brushed style. From what I've read Trico modified an existing supply of 65 and earlier style blades to be federally compliant for 66 and these could be identified by the somewhat polished finish on the underside. Anco was a major supplier in the aftermarket.

Thanks!
