Pitman arm for 1969 Firebird

I thought these were fairly common, but apparently not!

Please get it touch if you have one for sale. 1969 Firebird. PM me or send an email to john.creuziger@cruzeware.com

I'm changing over from manual to power steering and need the pitman arm.

Thanks,

John

Try these guys. A lot of times if they don't have it they can get it.

Well, I'm still looking for this elusive pitman arm!

461bird offered a swap for my manual setup but I'm keeping that.

Anyone out there with one to sell? Same contact info...pm me or shoot me an email at john.creuziger@cruzeware.com

Thanks,

John

Have you looked into a '69 Camaro pitman arm:

http://www.summitracing.com/search/y...1%2B4294947064

Not sure it's same for Firebird.... if it's different (between 'bird & camaro), then you could consider swapping over the entire steering linkage to Camaro to insure compatible parts. Probably costs less than 150 bucks for a complete, new Camaro setup.

I thought about doing this 10 yrs ago for my '69 Firebird... I needed an idler arm and NOBODY offered a new one. Some time later, a company called "Rare Parts" offered it for $150. I was shocked... almost swapped everything to Camaro since it was cheaper than the single firebird idler arm... but then bit the bullet and paid for the "Rare" part. I kick myself for not swapping to Camaro parts back then... especially with the thought of needing another Firebird piece (since I still drive the car a lot, including Hot Rod Power Tour).

Good Luck!

Sound advice and it looks like I may be going down the Camaro path in the end...

What would I need beyond the pitman arm? New center link, I'm sure. Anything else?

Thanks!

Is the 69 the same as the 68 pitman arm ?

ra96 08-02-2015 05:47 PM

If you swap to 68 camaro or firebird

youll need to change pitman arm -idler arm center link and inner and outer tie rods

68 birds and camaros used the same center link not sure 100% on the other stuff though

that 69 pitman is a tuff one to find for sure

bluegoose66 09-22-2015 10:05 AM

pitman arm

I have a 67 gearbox with pitman arm. Will that work. Also have the rest of the linkage if needed.

Hi

part number 7806616 ??

for power steering

I have a sweet one if so

Scott

Why are you changing the pitman arm?? When i went from std. steering to power steering all I changed was the steering box & put the arm on that was on the std box & it worked just fine , no problems at all. Ran the hoses & worked the way it should have . I didn't change the pitman arm, this was on a 68 conv. bird. >

Original'60's and '70's GM PS pitman arms had a larger splined hole than same application manual steering pitman arm, that is why JCruz is looking for a '69 Bird PS pitman arm #7806617

When did you have your Firebird, Rex?
