Does anybody epoxy in the turtle?
 

I'm curious how most people attach the turtle to the Victor 4500 intake. I've heard some run a bolt thru the middle and I've heard some use epoxy. If epoxy, what kind and how sure are you some doesn't come loose and go thru the engine? It would "appear" that the turtle in theory should help. I can't imagine the flat plenum floor working better?!?

It comes loose. BOLT IT from the bottom.

Does it not performance at all?

Butler had told me it was best bolted from the bottom but if it doesn't help performance, I won't fool with it. You are saying the intake works better with a flat floor?

I have made them fully out of epoxy set on top of 6 10/32 machine screws threaded into the bottom of the Plenum, and in regards to a Victor manifold a 3/4" tall one will always help the fuel distribution pattern and also to turn the air mass into the runners,that being said the issue after that is using a spacer for a taller Plenum to regain the lost Plenum volume sucked up by the turtle!
On a 470 cid or larger motor with heads flowing over 315 cfm@28" this is not something to over look if your trying to bang out every last bit of power!

X2, I had mine epoxied for years, it came loose, I removed it and the car went faster, it liked more plenum in the intake, so don't install it...;)

You would be better off doing a little work to the top of the manifold. If it's a dominator take out the clover leaf and blend the roofs of manifold back more.

Also a HVH tapered spacer have picked up on the cars I have put them on just be mindful that the carb doesn't get too close to the hood.

I have a one inch spacer so my plenum area should be fine. I also have a big hood scoop so clearance isn't an issue. Just wanted to play with the intake while I'm waiting to get the motor back. Any pics on the area to work on?

That's what I did to mine, was removed the Cloverleaf, and blended runners best I could. Its amatuer hour,lol

Why do all these intakes come with the waffle pattern in the plenum? Seems counter productive.

That pattern helps to re- introduce puddled up fuel into the air stream.
Excess fuel on the manifold floor is the main reason for a blast of black smoke seen as some cars lunch if not also from too much pump shot!
