Question on Window Adj for Sweep Install
1 Attachment(s)
I'm replacing the window sweeps On my '69 LeMans, and I can not ID how to lower the window to get at them (see photo). I saw a video for a Camaro where you could loosen a window stop bolt to lower the window, but I can figure out where it is on the LeMans. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

Usually there is a L shaped piece of steel in the door with a rubber pad on it. Once you find it there may be a piece of tape over the 7/16" headed bolt. Remove the down stop mounting bolt and own down stop then the glass will go down far enough to get the screws out for the moldings. :)

Thanks. It might be different for convertibles. It seemed that each of the 2 channels had a rubber stop at the bottom, so I had to loosen the top 2 bolts, and bottom bolt on each channel and drop the entire channels down. That allowed me to lower the window an inch to replace the window sweeps.

Best way is to run the window about half way up until the two nuts that hold the glass to the horizontal control bar are visible. Remove them and carefully push the glass outwards while holding the glass (so it can't fall) and drop the glass down into the door. Now you can install your sweeps and then just reinstall the window glass and your good to go without having to touch any of the many adjustments. Especially good if your windows already fit nice.
btw, 2 door hardtops and convertibles have identical doors and guts. |
Good to know, thank you.
