Looking to get a set of the Wheel Vintiques Series 62 Steel Wheels that I plan to run with Dog Dish Caps on my '64 Goat. These come bare steel so I was wondering what the sheen of the original black wheels would have been.

For correctness, I believe we have agreed on black primer the whole wheel and then 60% gloss on the front only with overspray then showing on the back side. more will join in. "Bill"! :rolleyes:

Thanks Bill. Can you recommend a 60% Gloss in a rattle can? Would that be considered Satin or Semi Gloss?

I've had good results with the Dupli's wheel coatings, it's been holding up real good.

Thanks Jeff. I'm assuming the Satin Black would be the best choice for an OEM finish. Do you have experience in using this color in particular?

I don't run on the 14x5 steelies a lot but it's held up well.

The R1 are on almost always and the Silver was very acceptable to me as a close match to E.O.

Those also come powder coated in black. That's the way I went.

What was the additional cost per wheel? In searching Summit, I did not see a product listing for these wheels (Series 62, 14x7) powdercoated.

They are a different series that I got from Summit, called the "tri five wheels." Not sure if they come in 14".

Wow...the backspace on those is 1.5" shorter that the Series 62. Any rubbing issues?

NO CLEAR.

I have 15x6 in front and 15x7 in the rear with 4 wheel disc brakes. No rubbing.

Got a set of 14 steels from friend that was restomoding a 66 Chevy. Sand blasted them & went to the PPG store had them mix up some single stage Starlight Black for me. Looks about 60% gloss.

I got my 14x7 steel wheels from the Parts Place. They come powder coated in semi gloss black. $99 eaxh, $128 delivered. I'm very happy with them.

What size tire are are you using for the 15X6 rims

I am using 205/60's in the front and 255/60's in the rear. When I bought the car, it had 215-75's on it, and they just looked cartoonish. I'm really happy with this look.
