Is anyone else sick of the Pontiac Blue engines?
I mean I love the color, just getting sick of it. I am building a new engine this summer and think that I am going to paint it 55-57 Pontiac Dark Green. Just to be different. Anyone else on board with that color being played out?

I like black but will probably go with the proper color blue on my '63. If you aren't doing a restoration, it really doesn't matter does it?

It's my car, doesn't matter to me what anyone else says....
I painted the 350 currently in my T/A w/ black automotive enamel. Looked awesome for a few years. Dave, go for that green color!!! I'm thinking of Lucerne blue on my next engine, it's blue but way different from Pontiac blue engine colors. |
I painted one silver for my 67. Never really looked right to me. I'm going to stick with the newer metallic blue for my next engine.

IIRC a long time ago Nunzi had a motor in a magazine (Cars?) with I think Ford engine blue. It looked good. Think it had black M/T valve covers on it?

Let's mess with the minds of the Not Knowing............
paint it Chebby Orange |
I personally love the pontiac metallic blue HOWEVER, once it begins to burn off after 30 minutes of run time other colors would also look cool. One of the guys I go t swap meets with is building a 72 firebird. He painted his 455 a burnt orange color, it really looks good!

How can you get sick of that of all things?
|
No never! :)
|
My last build wad red, matching decals on car.

Was thinking Olds rocket gold with blue covers & pan. :D
|
Hell no! :first:
Whoever picked these colors and put them into production was a marketing genius. These were the colors of the true Pontiac Performance Years. Love them. Embrace them 1959 -1965 http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...0Tri-Power.jpg 1966-1970 http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...V/DSC03472.jpg |
I paint mine the color of the car.

Not at all. I really like the 66-70 blue posted by B-man and also the later 75-76 blue. The metallic blues Pontiac used on their engines makes most other manufacturers colors pretty plain and is synonymous with Poncho power .

Plenty of Pontiac colors to choose from
