WIW 68 Lemans Coupe Utility
 

I've ALWAYS wanted this thing. My 2 favorite cars have always been my 68 GTO's and my 68 SS El Camino I used to own.

Man, that car has been floating around for a long time. I've always liked it myself. Don't know what it's worth but I know what it's not worth....what they're asking for it.

Looks like a nice $25K car/truck that someone is trying to sell for $70K.

Years ago I came across a '67 GTO/El Camino conversion and it was well done.
Grafting the GTO taillights into the tail gate is the one feature that I recall.

Don't know what it is worth but it is a cool one-off.

I thought Pontiac built it, not a body shop.

I wonder if they have any provenance to go with the car? May have to make a call. If doing my own, the thing I would do differently is to incorporate the Pontiac rocker panel line like the 69 you attached. I do like that it has the Pontiac dash in it.
Anyway this is about 3 down on the list of projects I'll never get to...

The car has been discussed here several times. It's neat and well done, but it's not the "Pontiac prototype" they make it out to be in most of their ads. If I remember correctly, it changed hands a few years back at a much more reasonable number.

At first glance that looks better and at half the price of the 68. To each their own but you could buy a pretty nice 68 GTO for $35k, which I'd way rather have than a 350-2v Tempestamino

The newspaper article attached is pretty interesting. Never seen that before. They say a Pontiac Tempest Sedan 'body and frame' was used but 'part of' a Chevy 'chassis'. What exactly is a 'frame'?

Presumably they are using 4dr frames on these if they are not just using the El Camino frame. ( a lot of stuff to transfer) My understanding is the El Camino shares a wagon frame, but the 2dr frame would be too short. The Le Mans VIN is provided on the auction, but I'm not interested enough to do a PHS on it.
And yes, 16K is a lot more realistic for a toy like this IMHO. Fun stuff none the less.

Yeah, I've always been informed that the elky's were on a wagon frame...but once again, reading the article, what's the difference in a chassis and a frame? I always thought it was two different ways to say the same thing.
The article says it used the frame from one type and the chassis from another. Makes no sense to me.

The 71 is neat - would have been better with the enduro clip.
