firewall wire entrance location
So my memory is failing again. I ordered a new grommets for the firewall. The grommet for the hideaway hoses has the three holes, but did the orange power wire for the convertible top (accessory) that goes to the horn relay go through that same grommet for the there vacuum lines? I think the reverse switch wires came in there somewhere too.
All these details are catching up with me..... :( The grommet I have from ames just has three holes for the vacuum lines. Thanks, 68RT |
I guess I'll plan on bringing the wires in with the hideaway hoses. Maybe I'll drill an extra hole in the grommet. pretty low & behind the booster. Not sure where else they could have come out.
anyone else have a convertible hideaway car they could check? |

This is how I received this one, not sure if it is correct.
Attachment 399369 Attachment 399370 only three holes in grommet. Dave |
That's the exact same wires I need to run in. Reverse, tach & accessory power.
Did you buy the car this way? original options? Thanks for the pictures!! very helpful! |

I was mistaken in my previous post, those pics are after I had replaced the engine harness.
This is how I received it. Attachment 399375 Hideaways, Dash Tach and 4 speed are original options. Do you have dash or hood tach? Dave |
conv, 4-speed, & dash tach. I am adding power windows though. It never had them, but I found a donor donor 68 that I removed all the wiring harnesses, switches, regulators, etc.
Looks like a lot of wires going in that grommet in that picture! It cracks me up how all the options like power windows, convertible top, etc, run off that one orange wire on the horn relay. And that wire gets feed from an even lighter gauge wire! No wonder the motors run sloooooow. ;) |
Yes, way to many wires. After market gauges, alarm system and line lock wires were running through there.
