Hood scoop on 68 Lemans
 

Friend picked up a 68 Lemans and with the new engine it won't fit the stock hood.

Anyone have a cheap idea for a scoop to go on the steel hood?

I told him to cut a square hole and make a scoop out of plexus glass since it has Nitrous on it

There is a glass GTO hood that is raised 2".

how about sticking a T/A shaker on it.

We looked at the T/A mounted backwards.....

Might try our hand at making a plexiglass/Lexan scoop.....

Then the car is going under the knife!

Anyone think a guy could get a 68 Lemans under 2900 lbs with iron head 400 using the slice and dice formula?!

Yes it can be done. My car has stock dash, all steel except hood, IA2, twin turbo, two fuel systems, EFI and all of the wiring plus an aftermarket wiring harness, stock frame and dash and floor to the front seats, all glass and door functions as stock, 40 splined axles, steel driveshaft, stock passengers seat, stock front brakes, 25.5 moly cage, stock bumpers and brakes, and probably more that I cant remember.

The front bumper, brackets and headlights feels like 80lbs all itself.

Lots of ways to get the car down in weight. Im at 3480 without me in it.

Back in 1984 I had a '69 Custom S that I stuck a T/A scoop and a 1970 GSX spoiler on. It looked fantastic. Both the hood scoop and the spoiler I had hanging around collecting dust so I thought "why not?" They both went on very easily and I thought they looked like they belonged on the car. I'll try and find some pics.
