RediRad Review
 

A couple of years ago, I sent my original 1965 GTO AM/FM radio to S&M Electro-Tech in Minnesota. While this radio was a working unit at the time, I asked him to inspect the unit and perform any necessary cleaning/maintenance/lubrication as necessary. While on the telephone, I asked him about some upgraded "stock" speakers. He did the necessary maintenance on the radio, sent me some 10 ohm upgraded "stock" speakers, and the whole system worked great from the very beginning. It continues to work as delivered.

Just a few months ago, I decided to order the RediRad from Engine-Ear on this forum. I just got it installed last weekend, and I can tell you that this product works exactly as described. The installation was much easier than the manual described, it tucked up underneath the dash perfectly, and I cannot be more than happy.

Please understand that even with a stock rebuilt AM/FM radio, the original working reverb, upgraded "stock" speakers, and a RediRad on board, you will never achieve the sound that you might get from the latest Alpine or Kenwood offerings. I knew that going in.

But if you are looking for a place to plug in your iPod/iPhone/Android that involves no cutting, fabricating, jack-hammering, or chiseling, you should look to the RediRad.

It really is pretty cool. It's the only way to listen to the Dropkick Murphys on your original radio!

Update: if you're using an iPhone 6 with the EQ feature activated, I've found that certain EQ settings are much clearer and permit more initial phone volume versus other settings which create more static thus forcing less initial phone volume.

I just installed a RediRad unit in my '65 Buick Sport Wagon equipped with the oem AM and it works as advertised. My first experience with this adapter was in my '68 GP on it's oem AM/FM and it was also easy to install and worked perfectly. Designed and manufactured by PY Forum member Engine-ear, Matt Planning.
