68 gto a/c clutch fan pic
 

Anyone have any pics of their original 7 blade 19 1/2 inch fan on a 68 GTO with a/c? I am looking for pics of the fan blade and where its riveted to the center section. I am trying to determine the correct one, I have a couple cars with the same fan, but looks different then the one pictured in the 1968 magazine ad that has all the accessories laid out in front of the car. I do know the blade has no part number, like the 69's and newer have. I have seen so many styles, some have 2 rivets on top of one another with 2 rivets below that are side by side, this would have a triangle finger on the center section where the blade attaches. Then I have seen ones with 5 rivets in a "X" pattern with a squared finger on the center section where the blade attaches, I have also seen this same style with the center rivet not used.

Thanks, is yours a early build car? Do you know what the dates are on your engine. My march-april cars from Pontiac MI plant all have the same fan (different then yours), they have the same design blade as yours, but have 5 attaching rivets in a X pattern.

I would think what your seeing is the difference in the mgf's from that era. You may find out that there were several mgf's that made the fan for Pontiac & GM at that time. I would think then that each mgf. had there own way of riveting the fan blades as per their own safety design. Then as long as the fan was of the number of blades that were required by Pontiac & GM it just went through.

Trim tag - Build date 4th week of March.
Engine is the original. I'll have to look at the block date.

As far as the rivet design by manufactures, Im not sure that's the case. From what I have seen, the fans of the earlier 66 & 67 models were of the "arrow" design as BKmont has pictured. The 69 -70 fans were of the square design as I have pictured. I would think it may have been a midyear change or maybe a manufacturing plant difference. Just trying to determine.
