67 gto manual to auto conversion

What parts are needed to perform this conversion? Does the transmission cross member need to be moved? Which TH 400 needs to be used? Any specific guide linesd to be followed would be appreciated.

Move the crossmember back 6", the holes are already drilled in the frame.

You need a TH400 with the short (approximately 4" long) tailshaft extension.

And it can't be from a Chevy. Buick/Olds/Pontiac will work. You also need the TH400 yoke, as the 4 speed is too small.

Other things needed that I can think of,
Automatic radiator
Cooling lines and clips
Flex plate and correct bolts, yours are too long
Shifter, cable, retaining bracket for cable
Wide brake pedal, if you have power brakes
Caffiene to keep you awake once you start driving it with the automatic.

One or more of the parking brake cables will have to be replaced as well as the hangers. I am not sure which one(s).And, if your radiator is not equipped with the cooling line hook ups you will need to change it or add an external cooler.

400 - 400

I'm putting a 400 motor and 400 tranny in a 67 tempest. It came with a OHC 3 speed. Moved the tranny mount back, holes lined up. Had to shorten the drive shaft from, 60" to 59 1/4" used a 400 yoke. Tranny mount was different. Still working on e-brake. Put a lokar shifter and a ididit tilt column in.
