68 Quarter Window Vertical Chrome Install
 

What is everyone using to install the vertical chrome strip to the quarter glass? The reformed "U" channel rubber molding or the thick tape sold by AMES? Thanks

I used the U channel and didn't have any trouble.

Who did you buy the "U" channel from? Were you reusing your original glass and chrome strip or was that reproduction as well? Thanks

I think the moldings were from Classic Headquarters. Their stuff has been top shelf since the early 2000's when he started up. The 1/4 glass is original. The moldings and weather strips are repo

I used original 1/4 molding on repro glass. I cut up a piece of bicycle inner tube for the glass channel which is about the same thickness as that stuff anyway.

You get a much cleaner look if you put a bead of black weatherstrip cement
on the edge of the glass and stick the chrome on with no gasket.
after you put it on walk away and let it set up for 24 hours before handling. with this method you don't see the ugly sealing strip when you look into the glass, just the beautiful chrome
finish. It's also much easier to do.
