1974 Grandville what do you think?

I'd love to make some sort of cool cruiser/hot rod out of it but I just don't see how. I learned to drive in a car like this and with all the trouble I'm having finding a nice 65-66 fullsize I found this and it could be a cheaper alternative. I remember how well they cruised and that they did have some power on the low end with the 455. I just wonder if it's worth it.

Must have been a good one?

It's deleted.

Easy. Upgrade the engine with the typical go-fast modifications for building a Pontiac focusing on low end and street-ability, the rear end is likely a 2.73-3.08 which is decent enough, replace any worn suspension components, and upgrade to a rear sway bar from a convertible if it doesn't already have one (or is a convertible). You can get wild with the suspension upgrades but the costs get quite high once you do that.

If you have to ask, then no it isn't. Buy a car you want and love, not something you're going to use as a stop-gap until you get what you want. Unless the car is DIRT cheap and needs nothing, you're going to be upside down in one of these very quickly when you go to sell it when the '65 you want comes along. They don't sell for big bucks and outside of the donk crowd there is a limited market, even for very nice examples. My advice is unless you love this era of big car to wait for your desired '65-66 to come along.
