Jeff Verdi wins the Spring Fling Million Dollar Race!

Congratulations towing from VA to Vegas on an open trailer and kicking ass and winning the BIG race! .014 on the tree, dead on with a 1 in the final. I think there was about 270 cars. Amazing job Jeff!

This is definitely Verdi's lucky day. He towed his all Pontiac 1968 Firebird out on an open trailer and then bought a $50.00 raffle ticket earlier. He won a spot for today's race and takes a reportedly $270,000 Jackpot home early this morning.

Dickey gets a 0.005 starting line advantage, but can't run down Verdi, who ran 0.001 to his dial and scored a fifteen package. Jeff Verdi's MOV: 0.0115 seconds (approximately 3 feet).

I watched some of my Minnesota friends competing last night via Livestream and had to hit the rack to get up early to race today. Jeff was going rounds and making it look easy. Congrats to him and the entire Verdi racing family and team. One in a lifetime opportunity and achievement. Well deserved.

gman005 04-16-2016 07:56 AM

Big Congrats Jeff. Quite an accomplishment.

mgarblik 04-16-2016 08:23 AM

Congratulations on the huge win. That had to leave many on the west coast shaking their heads and wondering what the heck just happened when that pesky Pontiac showed up! Way to go.

Congratulation to The Verdi Team and Family.
That ought to make J Verdi a PY VIP now !

Congrats Jeff! What a great start for the new year.

For those who do not know Jeff, I've got to add that he is one of the most humble individuals you will ever meet. The last time I talked to him he told me about actually selling that 68, and then buying it back. I guess the guy couldn't keep a Pontiac engine together and gave up. I'm thinking the "Topgun" is a keeper.

PAUL K 04-16-2016 08:46 AM

Awesome! Congratulations!

sdbob 04-16-2016 08:49 AM

Congratulations Jeff. Wow. Some makes will not like that. Pontiacs don't run as I was told when I was a teen!

mike leech 04-16-2016 08:52 AM

Jeff the man! Awesome.
