clutch pedal chewing up floor mat
 

I had this thread over in the 66-67 tech section but maybe it's better off over here. I recently got the repro rubber floor mats for my 67 GTO 4 speed and already the clutch pedal is mangling the mat. I guess I never paid attention to it with the the carpeted mat. Is this a common occurrence and if so what is anyone doing about it? I was thinking of fabbing up a stop but I'm concerned that could compromise the clutch travel. I can't imagine back in the day of picking up you're new manual trans car only to have the mat screwed up when you got home!

seriously, don't hammer the pedal to the floor every shift, and if your having to push the pedal all the way to floor to shift, you need to adjust it, you didn't have to go to floor board to shift when new.

Like the Orielly commercial a while back, I had floor mats to protect my floor mats... Since I did a little drag racing with my 4spd, I would either take out the nice logo mat, or over cover it with a narrow mat while driving.

Take a piece of fuel line or other rubber hose, cut it length-wise, and put it on the arm behind the pedal. Zip tie or safety wire.

If you need more throw and/or shorter pedal travel, drill a hole 1" down on the z-bar arm that the rod that goes to the fork is on. Moving it will give it a longer throw for the same pedal movement.
