Hood to fender bumpers

3 Attachment(s)
Lost one somehow, ordered from ames, as usual looks totally different than what I have on. LOL

The first two pics are what I have on now, they are more triangle than the new one. Also have a small hole in the sides of them.

Tried using dishwash soap to get the new on in, that was a no go, had to file quite a bit of rubber to get that thing to fit into the fender slot.

Was wondering if someone could post a pic of theres on a 66 /67 assume there the same.

Thanks

Rich

Nope, other way, narrow at the top. BUT, they are not really correct.

Originals were not solid.

Hey Charles, how ya doing.........isn"t in the pic the narrow is at the top.

Do you happen to know where I could get some original ones.

Try these people. They have many different types of bumpers that could be closer to what you want. GM starts on page 97 for fender bumpers.

Hey Scott, thanks for that link......couldn"t find one for a 66 gto, so far it looks like I could go 70-72 cutlass.....62-65 nova.......or a 70 Gto. LOL

I'm wondering what I have on the car now.......curious on your 67 , do your bumpers look like the ones I had pictured.

Thanks

Rich

I'm not sure if the bumpers on Rich's car are correct originals or not but I can tell you that I have had nothing but trouble with the reproduction bumpers on my cars. They are too thick & keep ripping off the mounting tab on the back when I close the hood. On my show car I've taken to leaving them off & only putting them on the car once I am at a show & have the hood up. I would be very interested in finding a solution to this problem. Jerry.

Mine are the same as the repops you have. They appear more rounded where they become thicker at the bottom. It was either Ames or PY they came from.

Good luck

Hey, thanks for the help guys............im gonna hit a few car shows and see what everyone has from 66 up..........im on a mission now, I'm gonna get one of those mothers yet..........I have the wrong motor, the wrong trans, the wrong wheels, but I'm gonna have the right bumpers. LOL. I'm just wondering how long that rubber bumper was missing.
