4 speed and Shifter help, please
 

I am pretty sure this is the last time I will bother Y'all with questions about the parts that came with the 67 El Camino I bought a couple weeks ago. The car has an automatic transmission in it that was original to the car but, I also got this 4 speed and Hurst shifter in the deal and was hoping Y'all could tell me what I have and if it is worth anything. The tranny had been rebuilt quite a few years back but never installed.

I reckon that to be a Saginaw 4-speed. Plenty good behind mild to moderate motors.

Worth? Seems like those trans sell for $300-350 around here.

yep..saginaw with a universal over the counter parts house shifter...it looks like a handle for trucks because of height...

The shifter is a Hurst Competition plus. You can probably get 300 for the tranny and 150-200 for the shifter.

Oh yeah, also known as the "Saginoff" transmission, lol

Unbolt the trans from the bellhousing and see how many rings are on the input. If it has no ring, two rings or three rings it's a good trans to run. One ring stay away from, very weak. And yes it is a Saginaw. I have ran them for years in my GTO and like the steeper ratios, especially with high rearend gears.
