Which Trunk Weatherstrip?
 

Hi Everyone,

It has been quite awhile since I've beeen on here. I haven't done much of anything to my car in the past decade except drive it and enjoy it. But I do appreciate having this forum to come back to.

It is past time to replace the original trunk weatherstrip on my 68. I see there are many suppliers and a few types of weatherstrip: Hollow, solid, rubber, latex coated, etc. All the body panels are original and the car has not been apart.

What are your recommendations, and why? Are there any good installation videos or tips to know about?

Really it is a simple job, I used Steele rubber products. Remove the old and you want to wind up with the seem at the latch area. Clean out all old rubber adhesive, start at the latch area and when the other end meets cut it with a sharp razor blade.

Don't use OER! (Classic Industries crap!)

Use latex coated, Metro Soft Seal is the best.

Same for door seals.

I'll have to agree with the OER remark, I tried mine while adjusting trunk lid and it is way to thick the lid sits a quarter inch above the quarter. I haven't tried the OER door seals yet

topless: When I search for Metro Soft Seal, that doesn't appear.
I see Metro Molded Parts or SoffSeal. Neither one states it's latex coated. Can you guide me to what you used?

I believe Metro soff seal is all the same stuff, made by Metro. I see on Epay they all seem to call it something different. If not, Metro is the stuff I'm talking about. Distributor is in Coon Rapids, MN.

That looks like what I have that's to thick

Has anyone used the one with the hollow core? TK 46 - 0.
That might relieve some of the excess pressure.

Metro A little thick at first but conforms nicely after a few weeks. A couple times it was sticking to the trunk lid. A little silicone spray solved that
