I'm not looking to buy, but I've got a question. They appear to be the geared type, as opposed to the traditional differing-size-sprocket type, which is all that I've used. Do you prefer the geared type?

I don't believe that the differential type is still being manufactured.

The Gear type is more efficient requiring less effort to lift a load (This is not really much of an issue for smaller loads).

With the Gear type you can replace only the load bearing chain if it becomes worn or damaged.
