I met a friend today at a car show/swap meet. I swore I would buy anything, just was going to hang out and catch up with an old friend. Then I saw this stage 3 snow meth kit. Could not refuse $175.00. Now to figure how to use it.

You running turbos? Intercooled or no?

Yes single turbo air to air. I had no plans to go over the pump gas limit boost, but ya never know! Getting the car to hook is the issue with boost.

Water/meth will drop your EGTs and can help spool turbos faster but none of that will help you hook. Good luck.

70bird is an expert on that system with a single turbo.

GM Customers killed a bunch of 215 cid Olds Turbo Engines when they would forget to add the "Rocket Fuel" in the 60s.

The Bosch people have a good idea (if you could get the people today to even look under the hood and check the oil).

Water does nothing for power in itself, but it does allow other technologies like Higher compression ratios, Boosting, and additional timing in the engine.

All we have to do is get a robot to add the water to the Rocket Fuel Bottle or Greatest whiz-bang water bottle.

Inter-cooling, on the other hand, (either air to water or air to air) has similar benefits and minimal maintenance.

I scattered(melted) my Corvair motor. Usually topped water injection(wintergrade washer fluid) at every fill up. that usually left me about a quart reserve. Its last gas fill station was out of wintergrade fluid so I figured I would find some later...then forgot. One night playing around with half tank of fuel fying down a backroad(100 maybe?) a sudden shudder then momentary wheel lockup then coasting to shoulder in silence. 5 of 6 plugs clogged with aluminum spray.

Had I thought to add a float switch or two (1 to indicate low fluid another to kill the ignition if it fell to near empty) it wouldnt have gone to meltdown. Preignition happens faster than you can react to it...big difference from detonation.

Agree intercooler is more reliable especially A/A. If A/W a means of insuring coolant is circulating should be part of the system.

You've got to love the cost effectiveness and simplicity of water/meth injection,especially in a race engine. Ice cooled water could also be used to even further reduce charge temps. Weight is also a factor, I went the water/meth route because I didn't want to add the weight of an A to W cooler/tank/pump and pipework.
However,in road use by the average customer I can see the tank not getting filled up due to forgetfulness or laziness,but a modern car with it's all knowing ECU will no doubt be able to compensate for this eventuality.

I got the "forgetfulness" covered big time, I have to force myself to raise the hood and check the radiator bottle, brake reservoir and the windshield washer bottle for proper levels.

Meth injection
 

I had a meth injection on my Grand national and I used a wwindshield washer bottle off a newer car from the junk yard that had a low level float in it and I also hooked up a led indicator light on the dash so I new when the 100 % meth was low. The meth kit I had had 2 nozzles that shot in the up pipe and I was able to running 25# of boost with pure meth and 93 octane .....without meth I was only able to run 15# of boost

I have seen the low water level "float" deal on some Ford Washer Bottles.

Wish I could remember where as it has been years ago and I have Old Times memory these days. Thanks for the reminder.

Guess its just a mechanic thing but before I go out and beat the snot out of a 700+ hp car I take time to check all the fluids.:p

You must, THEN, check the fluids in your car daily! :p

The modern meth/water injection systems all offer a fluid level sensor. Easy enough to wire that up to a light and even a buzzer in the car. With EFI now its also possible to either pull timing or kill the ignition with that same switch.
