Carburetor Rebuild Service
Thinking of having my 79 T/A quadrajet rebuilt. I've seen Cliff's name well spoken but he has a long lead time. Any other service you would recommend (or not...)
Thanks! Paul |

Cliff also packages a nice custom kit if you feel comfortable doing it yourself. It's not difficult but there is a learning curve. He has great support service.

A high-school kid can REBUILD a carburetor, aside from re-bushing the throttle shafts perhaps (assuming the core is good.)
The trick is the recalibration as performed by the carb tuner, which is often done as part of the "rebuild". If you're not recalibrating the fuel curve, do it yourself. |

I read on Cliff's website that he has reduced his wait time a bunch. Might want to call him and ask for a more accurate answer. 1-740-397-2921. I bought one of his books when they came out. His book is pretty thorough. I just bought a kit and parts to finally properly build the Q-Jet on my T/A, today. His website also boldly states that he does not provide technical assistance to folks that have "cheapo'd out" and bought their parts and kits elsewhere, can't blame him. If you buy your stuff on E-bay, ask them for help tuning your carb!!! I bought the HP kit, it has a boat load of stuff in it, that you'll never see in a parts store kit. Can't go wrong, my opinion. You get what you pay for, every time! |
Correct, we are just about caught up in the shop, first time in over 10 years......Cliff

I got one on my Buick from Everyday Performance. It is the best running Q-jet I have ever had.

Demand for our rebuilding kits is keeping me so busy, I don't have time to rebuild carbs (haven't for almost 5 years now). If you are doing WCFB's and AFB's I will send you some business. Jon. |

"Cliff - are you doing anything other than Q-Jets?"
Jon, I have been picking and choosing more lately, and turning away a lot of the "bottom of the farm pond" stuff. Not doing any WCF's or AFB's, TQ's or much of anything besides Q-jets at the moment. We're caught up mostly because I've been taking in more work that just needs tuning and better parts installed. At least 1/3rd of our workload in the past few years has been carburetors built elsewhere that just need custom tuning and such. Been down-sizing as well, and devoting more time to parts sales and small jobs like heli-coil installations, throttle body rebuilding, etc. We're not out that much at all for rebuilds, not more than a few weeks, but months out on any sort of "restoration".....Cliff This turns m |
