intake 9799068
 

Newbie here, but I have a '68 'bird, 350 2 bl. Original heads (17's I think).

I want to convert to a 4 bl, and I have a used 9799068 intake, and a 7028264 carb. The carb is from a '68 400 'bird, but I think that intake is early '70's 400.

Should I look for a 9790140 intake? Or are they fairly close in flow?

I am just building a street cruiser, nothing for the strip or track. Just looking to bump a few HP when getting on it.

Any opinions one way or another?

They are both basically the same.

The 9799068 intake would work good for what you are doing.

The 2bbl motors only have 40 psi oil pump and Moraine 200 series bearings, so do not run it too much over 5200 rpm if it's still stock.

Thanks guys! It's in for a complete rebuild. The machine shop said it was extremely clean, and may only need a ten thousandths bore. Should I stick with a stock 350 cam, or something closer to a 350 HO cam? (I think they are different, although not positive)
Engine has 132k original miles, and hadn't been out or touched prior. Had a new timing chain installed somewhere along the line. Are there other things I should consider upgrading? (I want it to look stock from the outside)

Nothing for the strip or track in a 350 it's hard to beat the summit 2800 the power band will be proper for a 60's - 70's 4bbl engine.... Other upgrades. 60 psi oil pump, better than stock pushrods, cheap forged connecting rods, bowl blend and port match, 7/16 rocker studs, new springs new bronze guideds, viton seals, for the heads, balance lower end, don't use cheap cast pistons.. The list could go on and on just a few pointers
