68 full size wagon production numbers
 

Been looking around for a wagon to cart the kids and there stuff around town. I have my 68 Catalina ht but I'd really like a Catalina wagon of the same year
Is 1968 a low # year for full size wagons, or are they all crushed?

Not all of them, but they don't seem to pop up very often. The green one out west (AZ ?) on craigslist sold recently. There's a blue one at a classic car dealer in the Midwest that used to be on craigslist and Ebay. A 428 Bonneville wagon showed up on craigslist maybe a year or so ago out in CA. There's a member on here out west working on one, although I haven't seen any recent posts from him on progress. I have one (Ventura), and I've been picking off a 68 Cat wagon at a local junkyard for the last couple years. Not aware of any others out there right now. They don't seem to show up that often. I see more 67's show up than 68's.

There was one for sale by me a year or two ago, but it was way too nice for what I'm looking for.
I'd like to know #'s of 68 produced maybe there were more 67's

I know of one I'm currently trying to get the cash up for. It's in great shape minus engine, which as we all know on a wagon if the interior is trashed you've got an expensive problem on your hands.

You see more '67 wagons for some reason, as Stuart pointed out the production numbers weren't really that different between the 2.

You are asking two possibly mutually exclusive questions.

Someone posted the numbers - do you think production was low?

Were they all crushed? Wagons, as a rule were disposable, so their survival rate is low.

I guess I should ask is 68 Catalina wagon production low and should I just Get what I can get that year

Ben, I have a nice 68 gp motor/ trans with 80k on it that would go great in that wagon. If it's an a/c car, I'll sell it back to you when the kids get older....:-)
But looking at the numbers there should be more Catalina's to make a wagon copy of my 68

Unfortunately it's set up for a manual gearbox which I'm betting your '68 isn't ;-) I have one manual gearbox wagon already and a 3rd would be nice, especially one that the interior is done in. It's also nicely equipped with quite a few power options and AC. Just no space even if I did have the cash as I need to clear a garage slot.

Bench. I've only seen one factory bucket wagon and it was a manual with no console ('67 model). I'm converting my '67 manual wagon to buckets and console, but may dump that for the '68 as it's much nicer...

I bought a 68 375 hp 428 drivetrain out of a 68 Executive Safari in 1987 for $150 for my 68 Lemans 4 speed car , still got the big 428 emblems. Bet it had a Safe t Track too ..Damn

Just to clarify, I wasn't being rhetorical with the above. I just don't want it to be taken the wrong way.
