WIW: 71-72 front air dam?

I came across an NOS front air dam. What is a reasonable price?

'ol Pinion head 12-05-2016 09:55 PM

Scott, an nos air dam?
Do you mean the plastic Deflector that bolts on the bottom of the core support on factory AC equipped V8 '71 & 72 LeMans & GTO's. Know of several nos that have been purchased in last 5 years for under $125.

Yes, it is an injection molded piece that attaches at bottom of the core support behind the valance. I have only seen one on a car. I have seen remnants on a few.

The 71 Judge vert survivor had one in place.

That was the one I saw. Took quite a few pictures of it.

I've only ever seen two NOS in the last 20 plus years. Wish I came across those Roger is talking about! I'd gladly pay 150 for one.

Like this one, right?

That's it!

I am trying to buy a decent size stash of parts that this part is in. I just had no idea what it is worth. Seems that it was a lot less than I thought. I have seen the NOS 70 chin spoilers priced between $300 and $700. Since this is much less common, I thought it might be worth that much or more. I guess since there were a lot less of them new, there is not that much demand. Thanks for the input!

Lance Kramer has another one....

Hen's teeth!

Judge273 02-25-2018 09:28 AM

So, WIW is a 71 Lemans...hen teeth cheaper and more useful.

carguy66cars 02-25-2018 09:44 AM

Been listed a couple weeks, but for that price I will buy a whole car and have!!! Scott hope you get these re-produced, look at what you can sell them for?

There was one on the T37 when I bought it but was broken . Funny it was one of the first things I noticed because I haven't seen one in awhile. I fixed it but don't know how long it will last .

Wow Lance, just wow! :pound:

Judge273 02-25-2018 04:28 PM

Have all those cats been AC cars?

carguy66cars 02-25-2018 04:53 PM

Only put them on the A/C cars from what I have seen Mike? My '72 Lemans Sport showed no sign of ever having one!

Judge273 02-25-2018 07:08 PM

Thanks I meant cars, really..

1oldgoat 02-25-2018 07:50 PM

I’m still working on having it reproduced. The original company was not able to produce a decent product. I am just starting to work with a different company.

Stumbled across your post from a few years ago. Did you ever have any luck reproducing the front air dams? Appreciate an email [email protected] THANKS
