67 NOS Tail Light Panel - WIW

Have an NOS 1967 GTO tail light panel that has been in my attic since about 1975. My car's sheetmetal is done and I did not need it. Can't find any out there to compare to but the repops are around $300. My NOS 1/4s from the same time period fit like a glove - this will too.

Any advice appreciated on what this is worth.

Thanks,
Matt

ebay will tell you. I bought mine new from GM in 1986 for about $100. I imagine in 2017, an oem panel will be worth at least $500...........

500-700 is about right.

Sounds right, I paid $90 in 1984 from The Paddock. But, from those I've seen advertised the past year or so, I think $500 will be tough to get.

I sold one for $500. ebay has some on there but at ridicules asking price! I here the repops are very good quality too.

Thanks fellows - I was thinking the $400-500 range. I'll give it a try.

The repops are good, I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. I'd say you should be able to get about $100 more than a repop.

Ram4king 01-08-2017 08:52 PM

I disagree, No nos part is only worth 100.00 more than a repop. There definitely a difference.

Bought one at Iola, Wisconsin car show for $200 summer of 2015, with GM stickers still on it ... was bringing it to my truck and some guy ran up to me ... his ragtop had been rear-ended about a month earlier and WANTED THAT PANEL. So he got it. For $400 :)

It is my understanding this part is made with GM tooling. I could be wrong but I have one on my car and I can't tell the difference between it and the original that was on it (other than rust). I suppose if you are doing a high level restoration, the NOS part would be worth whatever someone is willing to pay. In my case, with a very nice driver car, why would I or anyone pay more?

I've used two of the repops and the fit and finish is great. One of the better repops out there......no difference between it and the one on the car that I could see. Probably could squeeze a few more bucks out of someone if they really want NOS.

I like NOS replacement parts when available -- a purity thing and bragging right, I suppose. I've looked at the re-pop tail panels and I think they look as close to GM as GM for all purposes. I've heard good and bad about the fit/finish of re-pop hoods and fenders, but all good about the tail panel. So I'd pay a bit more for NOS ... not any 1000% or anything crazy like that, but I'd pay a 10-20% premium on most things.

I sold my NOS one about a year ago, got $500 for it
