lower windhsield cowl rust- HELP

Hi guys,
This is the aftermath of me removing the broken windshield in my 64 Tempest- rust city... lots of cancer :(
I'm looking at the lower cowl patch panel that Ames sells. Has anyone used this? If so, do you think it'll cover the rust sections?
Are the outer pillars some kind of bolt on sheetmetal-- like a cover? I see them listed for a 66-67 as outer covers- wondering if he 64/65 are the same gig?
If so, will the 66/67 covers work to patch the 64's?
I am thinking about using some Fusor panel bond to attach the patch section because my welding skills suck, and I do not want to warp the dash, as I can see that there's scale on the upper section, so I can only assume it's worse underneath, so it's probably thinned out quite a bit.
Thanks!

Getting ready to go through the same process. Will follow this one for sure. I picked up a tig and some good hardwood to make some forms to shape the pieces I can't buy.

My 65 had a vinyl roof cover and looked not quite as bad as yours, but close. I ss screwed mine in place. I think the screws sit where the w/s sealing bead goes. I wish they made an insert for both front and rear windows that accepted the original glass but retained it more like todays newer cars do. With no stupid ss trim to trap water and leaves. I think it is a real shame that almost all of this era A bodies suffered such metal destruction due to a poor design. Same holds true for a rubber mat in the trunk that trapped moisture and killed the trunk floor.

So I am trying to use the passenger side Ames inner and outer Cowl on a 70 GTO now, and it seems to stick out from the center of the car 5/8" more than the driver side does. Did you run into this same problem and if so how did you resolve it?
