64 Tempest Wagon with Silver Interior?

Code 205-Silver was one of three available interior choices for the 64 Tempest Safari Wagon. (not the Tempest Custom Wagon). The other choices were Red and Saddle.

Does anyone have any pictures of the code 205 interior?

I have nothing to add, BUT great to see you back with a post.... "Bill"!

Could this be it..... https://www.bing.com/images/search?v...x=0&ajaxhist=0

I've looked online and it's the only photo I could come up with for the 205 Silver.... if it's correct.

Thanks, Bill.

No, That is an aqua interior, non-original material with Lemans door panels.

Thanks, John. I'm trying to figure out the exact shade of silver/grey the door panels would be. I have found references to the color in the CIA binder, the MPC, Craftsman News, etc. The terms gunmetal, silver, medium grey, grey seem to be used interchangeably. On page D-2 of the Pontiac Sales Manual there is a picture (B&W) of the Tempest Safari interior. The door panels seem to be in between the dark and light samples in the CIA binder. But no way to know if this is a saddle interior or silver or red.

This may be a dumb suggestion, but have you checked with SMS to see if they have any of the Code-205 Silver for '64 Pontiac Tempest's? Who knows, they may have the correct material. If they do, (or think they do) they'll send a sample if you request it.
Good luck,
Tony

50 Shades

Yes, that's who I am working with.

Usually the tops of the doors in 64 Tempests are about the same color as the door panel. I have the DuPont color chips for 64 GM Interiors and there is no silver code for 64 Pontiacs. There is Medium Grey Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic and Dark Grey - Flat. The Medium Grey is closer to the darker of the two solid color vinyls 8LUG posted. But that contradicts the picture in the Dealer Album.

And I do actually have the material from SMS already. Just trying to determine if the lighter or darker should be used for the door panels. Or, should it be something entirely different? The CIA Binder specifies "gunmetal" for the door panels. But I think it should be the silver, but there is no silver paint chip that matches.

I think I solved this mystery. In the 64 MPC this is a reference to part number 4223551 which is trimming material (yardage) for body styles 2027-69 "door and qtrs.-trim 205-med. gray"

The same material was used in '62 and is the same code SMS supplied as the lighter sample.

So, door and quarter int. panels are the light grey (silver). and the paint (medium grey metallic) must slightly contrast on the upper doors and dash while the top of the dash gets the dark gray flat.

You will have to post some pix down the road.....
