1968 GTO Coil Spring Help
 

I want to replace the front coils on my 68 air conditioning GTO. I'm having some concerning issues that I'm hoping someone could help. The top of my old springs are flat as well as where it sits inside the frame. It appears to me when looking at new springs on various sites that one end is not flat. I have even spoke to a representative at Moog and he confirmed that his spring (5386) is not flat on the one end. Shouldn't springs with open coils have a stop inside the frame? Some sites also sell a rubber insulator pad. The Moog guy said no! I hope someone can please help with my dilemma. Thanks a bunch!!!

I've never seen insulators on front springs...only rears. Bottom part locks into a notch...and again...I do not recall any "clocking" or locating set-up on the top of the springs. I could be wrong...but that's what I remember. Maybe someone wth a Fisher Body Manual can help.

The flat side goes up. The bottom end of the coil lines up with the drain hole on the lower control arm.
